INTRO / HOOK
Happy Father’s Day, Elevated Church! Before we do anything else, can we take a moment and honor all of the fathers in the room today?
- Our dads.
- Our grandfathers.
- Our stepfathers.
- Our spiritual fathers.
- The men who have prayed for us, sacrificed for us, provided for us, encouraged us, and pointed us toward Jesus.
But I also recognize that Father’s Day brings a lot of different emotions.
- For some, today is filled with gratitude.
- For others, it’s filled with grief.
- Some of you are celebrating your dad.
- Some of you are missing your dad.
- Some of you had a father who modeled Christ.
- Others are still healing from wounds that were left behind.
- Some of you are fathers who feel like you’ve done well.
- Others walked in today wondering if you’ve done enough.
So let me tell you where we’re going before we begin.
- This is not a sermon about perfect fathers.
- Because there aren’t any.
- This is not a sermon about trying harder.
