Introduction
Good morning—and Happy Mother’s Day!
- Whether you’re a mom, had a great mom, never knew your mom, or are still praying for your family to be healed. I want you to know:
- You are seen.
- You are valued.
- And you are here for a reason.
- Today, we’re not just celebrating motherhood—we’re honoring the kind of faith that shapes the future.
- The faith of a praying mom.
- The faith of a faithful grandmother.
- The faith of women and men who choose to trust God in every season—even when it’s hard, even when it’s hidden.
- Because:
- God doesn’t just build the future with talent or status—He builds it through faith.
- The kind of faith that may feel small, but leaves an eternal legacy.
- And Scripture is full of examples of exactly that.
Today, we’ll look at one of those examples in 2 Timothy 1:5–7 (NLT):
“I remember your genuine faith, for you share the faith that first filled your grandmother Lois and your mother, Eunice. And I know that same faith continues strong in you.
This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you…
For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.”
It Didn’t Start With You
- Paul says: “Timothy, you have genuine faith—but it didn’t start with you.”
- It started with Lois, a grandmother.
- It continued through Eunice, a mother.
- And now, it’s alive in you.
I want what I’m about to say to get down in the core of your bones. No One Is Self-Made. Not me. Not you. Not anyone you admire.
Today:
- You’re standing on prayers you didn’t pray.
- You’re walking in answers you didn’t ask for.
- You’re reaping from fields you didn’t plant.
- Before you ever believed—Someone was believing for you.
- Before you ever showed up in church—Someone was interceding behind closed doors.
- Before you ever knew what the Word was—Someone was declaring it over your life.
- You didn’t start this race—You’re running it because someone else ran before you.
- And they passed the baton—even if you never saw it.
What it Means Today:
