Intro / Hook

For those of you who know Christian definitions, We hear the word “witness” and think:

• Expert
• Apologist
• Evangelist
• Bible scholar
• Pastor

But that is not the picture Jesus had in mind.

• My wife watches enough Law & Order that I can recognize it from another room.
• You hear the music.
• Dun-dun.
• Then the narrator says: “In the criminal justice system, the people are represented by two separate yet equally important groups: the police, who investigate crime; and the district attorneys, who prosecute the offenders. These are their stories”

And eventually every episode arrives at the same moment.

• A witness takes the stand.
• Not because they know every law.
• Not because they are the judge.
• Not because they have every answer.

They are there for one reason:

• To testify about what they have seen.
• What they heard.
